Rio Grande Valley Health Alliance, 14 Physician Accountable Care Organization Selects MD Online Solutions for Technology Services
Improvements to patient care, customer service and office efficiency

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 7, 2013) –MD Online Solutions, LLC has been hired by Rio Grande Valley Health Alliance, an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) comprised of 14 primary care physicians located in McAllen, Texas to provide healthcare information technology, data management, and consulting. These services will assist RGVHA in meeting the clinical and cost-savings goals in the Medicare Shared Savings Program for Accountable Care Organizations.

An ACO is a group of doctors, hospitals and other health care providers who voluntarily organize to give coordinated care to their Medicare Fee-For-Service patients. The goal of coordinated care is to ensure that patients get the right care when they need it while avoiding duplication of services and preventing errors.

“MD Online Solutions can supply its technology to ACOs anywhere in the country,” said MDOS’ CEO, Dr. Gretchen Hoyle. “For independent groups that are newly organizing into an ACO like RGVHA, and want cost-effective technology, seek to improve patient outcomes and want to report metrics, MDOS is a great partner.”

RGVHA is a group comprised of 14 primary care physicians who are working with Medicare to provide better coordinated care to Medicare Fee-For-Service patients. The aim of the group is to deliver high-quality care and lower growth in healthcare expenditures.

MDOS personnel have had extensive, real world experience in the implementation of quality improvement projects in the primary care setting such as NCQA’s Patient Centered Medical Home. New Accountable Care Organizations such as RGVHA need strategies for systematically tracking patients with certain diagnoses and delivering specific services accordingly. MDOS provides the technology and medical expertise necessary to organize clinical and claims data into meaningful information that can be used by physicians to improve care delivery and control cost.

In only six months, the MDOS relationship with RGVHA has yielded the successful assessment of pre-intervention standards for the ACO’s participating practices in accordance with the 2013 Quality Performance Standards. Additionally, the technology solutions provider has developed a new component of its Patient Registry Application “REGe” specifically designed to receive and organize the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) claims data and layer this information into the customized clinical database.
