Local agencies to host three community events in conjunction with National Healthcare Decision Day

LEXINGTON, N.C. (April 11, 2017)Hospice of Davidson County, Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center and Senior Services, Lexington are encouraging Davidson County residents to make their healthcare wishes known. In conjunction with National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD), the group is hosting a series of three events designed to highlight the importance of advance healthcare decision-making.

Each participating organization will be providing information and tools for the public to discuss personal healthcare wishes with family, friends and healthcare providers, and execute written advance directives in accordance with North Carolina state laws. At each session, healthcare decision forms and notaries will be available free of charge.

“Working with Thomasville Medical Center and Senior Services, Lexington, we’re pleased to be provide these free informative sessions to empower Davidson County residents,” said Director of Community Relations for Hospice of Davidson County, Jan Knox. “Together, we’re hoping to share the importance and the value of advanced healthcare planning.”

The following free events are open to anyone 18 and up: 

• April 17 from 3-5 p.m., located at Hospice of Davidson County (200 Hospice Way, Lexington)
Attorney David E. Inabinett, will speak on elder estates and wills at 4 pm.
• April 19 from 10 a.m.- Noon, located at Thomasville Medical Center (207 Old Lexington Road, Thomasville)
Cyrus Bush, Chaplain at Thomasville Medical Center, will speak on “How to start the conversation” at 11 am
• April 21 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., located at Senior Services, Lexington (555 West Center Street Ext, Lexington)
A representative from Carolina Donor Services will speak on what being an organ donor means at 11 am.
