CAM NEWTON PROVIDES GAME-CHANGING EXPERIENCE FOR LOCAL GIRL SCOUT

GIRL SCOUTS HORNETS’ NEST COUNCIL’S EMERSON CARTER TO BE FEATURED ON "ALL IN WITH CAM NEWTON"

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Sept. 30, 2016) – On Friday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. ET, Girl Scouts Hornets’ Nest Council’s Emerson Carter will join Carolina Panthers’ star quarterback, Cam Newton, on “All In With Cam Newton.”

Airing on the Nickelodeon Channel, the fourth grader and five-year Girl Scout will share her passion for music and dreams of recording an album and performing in Nashville. Emerson is a regular at local coffee houses in the Lake Norman area, performing original music and popular cover songs.

She learned about Newton's show through a Girl Scout email and decided to apply.

“We were so shocked when we got the call that Emerson had been chosen for the show,” said Heather Carter, Emerson’s mom. “To be inspired by a leader like Cam and have this opportunity is truly game-changing for Emerson.”

Filming in the fall of 2015, Newton was on a fun-filled mission to help kids discover the hero that lives inside of them. In the series, Newton along with a roster of experts, stepped into the worlds of different kids and took them on a journey to help push them closer to fulfilling dreams.

For Emerson, Newton arranged for a special visit with a Grammy award-winning trio who performed one of her original songs. This opportunity propelled Emerson to conduct a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to record an album which she is currently producing.

With tremendous support from the Girl Scouts and family, Emerson applied the courage, confidence and character building taught by the leading authority on girls to her singing passion and this opportunity. Girl Scouts and performing have taught her about making mistakes, persevering, networking and life skills.

During her time at the Hornets’ Nest Council, she participated in a mother-daughter glamping trip in 2016, Scouting for the Cure in 2015 and Discovery After Dark in 2014 and 2015.
