Landon Parker Band – Friday, May 24 at 6 p.m.
Landon Parker first played a guitar at the age of 15 after discovering his grandfather had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Since then, Parker has used his love for music to help others going through similar hardships, performing at dozens of benefit concerts in the past year. Parker found his fellow band members, Jerry Vargas (lead guitar), Zack Hutchens (co-lead guitar), Cody Owen (bass) and Dave Ryan (drummer/backup vocals), on the internet and the Charlotte-based group was officially formed in November 2012. Since then, the band has opened for Florida Georgia Line and won the “Triad’s Got Talent” contest. Parker and his brother, Nathan, co-wrote every song on the band’s debut album, Country Side. Blu Avenue – Saturday, May 25 at 5:30 p.m.
Blu Avenue is a progressive rock band that incorporates different styles and influences in the music they create with the influences spanning from Incubus and Tool to Karnivool and Porcupine Tree. The Concord, N.C.-based band prides themselves on not only quality music but a live show you must hear and see to truly understand their unique musical style. Finding an outlet in open mic nights and local cover bands, the foursome – Frank Kerschbaumer (lead vocals and guitar), Josh Ledbetter (lead guitar), Matt Mastin (bass guitar) and Kyle Galdon (drums) – eventually came together to write music they wanted to hear which was captured in their debut album, Sounds From the Escape. Follow Blu Avenue on Facebook or Twitter @bluavenue for upcoming performances.
