HARRISBURG, N.C. (May 7, 2015) – From May 8 to May 23, the 600 Festival™ Association is offering fans a multitude of family-friendly activities to enjoy prior to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. These top-10 events are a must see in the Charlotte region.

1. Live Musical Entertainment*

It’s music to your ears. Free live performances starting May 14 to May 23 including:

  • Darrell Harwood at Haulers on Union FanFest at Ride Now Powersports – Concord and Route 66 at Haulers on Union in downtown Concord.
  • Music for all ages from the family stage at Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola including Mr. Nigel, Kati & Jessica and Amy Taylor.
  • Headliners Appetite for Destruction, the Ultimate Guns & Roses Experience; Departure, a Journey Tribute Band; Parmalee; Corey Smith; Craig Wayne Boyd, the winner of The Voice; and Dennis DeYoung and the music of Styx from the Coca-Cola stage at Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola.

2. NASCAR Appearances Galore*

The 600 Festival™ Association offers access to racing’s biggest stars. This year’s appearance schedule features:

  • Top NASCAR spotters including TJ Majors, Brett Griffin, Eddie D’Hondt and Kevin Hamlin at the Valvoline Little 600 in Mooresville;
  • NASCAR’s Kyle Larson, Kasey Kahne, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Michael McDowell and Justin Allgaier at the Valvoline Little 600 in Mooresville; and
  • NASCAR celebrity appearances at Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola including Austin Dillon, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, Donnie Allison and Ernie Irvan.

3. Fitness Opportunities
The inaugural PNC Speed Street 5K will take place Saturday, May 23 at 8 a.m. Runners will start on Tryon Street, run through the festival and end by the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Children will have an opportunity to get active with a Kids 600 Yard Fun Run through the NASCAR Hall of Fame after the start of the 5K. Awards will be presented to the top runners in a variety of categories on the Coca-Cola stage. Register prior to the event by clicking here.

4. Free Movies
The 600 Festival™ Association events kick off Friday, May 8 in downtown Kannapolis with Movies on the Campus featuring Disney’s Cars at 8:30 p.m. Another big screen showing will happen at Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola on Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23 at 8:30 p.m. on Tryon Street at Stonewall featuring the new release Big Hero 6.

5. Honoring Our Veterans
As a part of National Military Appreciation Month, the 600 Festival™ Association, the City of Concord, Cabarrus County and the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau are thrilled to recognize local veterans. The Vietnam Veterans 50th Anniversary Commemorative Program will take place at 5 p.m. on Union Street prior to the Haulers on Union parade. This ceremony will recognize all veterans who have served with local hero, veteran and POW Colonel J. Quincy Collins Jr. serving as the keynote speaker.

6. How Much Can You Eat?
Prove how many wings you can eat Friday, May 22 at 5 p.m. in the Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin’ Wing Challenge. In addition, Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola will play host to a Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest qualifying event Saturday, May 23 at 6 p.m. The top male and female finishers will earn a spot to compete in the ESPN-televised finals at the original Nathan’s Famous in Coney Island July 4.

7. Convenience at Your Fingertip
Circle K will continue to prove it is the most convenient place to shop by offering a signature brand experience inside Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola. Festival goers who visit the booth can win prizes and compete with unique games in a setting that is reminiscent of the store. Don’t forget to bring your Polar Pop cup by the booth for your chance to win tickets to the Coca-Cola 600.

8. Get Behind the Wheel of A New Car
Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola is excited to offer fans the opportunity to test drive a 2015 Ford vehicle, including the all-new 2015 F-150s. Test drives will be given on Tryon between Stonewall Street and Levine Avenue of the Arts Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22 from 12-6 p.m. Attendees can avoid the lines by signing up for their drive on Tryon Street between 3rd and 4th Streets.

9. Pop-Up Beauty Experience
Revlon’s first pop-up beauty experience is making its way to Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola. The unique beauty experience will offer personalized makeovers and manicures, one-on-one consultations, a sample bar and a #LOVEISON photo booth all day from the mobile marketing lot on Tryon Street between Stonewall Street and Levine Avenue of the Arts.

10. Free Giveaways
At Haulers on Union fan fest, attendees will receive free hauler driver autographs and t-shirts, and at the Valvoline Little 600, drivers will autograph Frisbees. At the end of May, festival goers will receive numerous free product and food giveaways from sponsors in addition to NASCAR celebrity autographs at Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola.

This year’s event lineup includes five, family-friendly events: Movies on the Campus May 8 in Kannapolis, Haulers on Union May 14 in Concord, Valvoline Little 600 May 19 in Mooresville, Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola in Uptown Charlotte May 21-23, and PNC Speed Street 5K in Uptown Charlotte May 23.
